Second thought, this card sucks
This is no exception in the Commander format, in which blue can accumulate incredible value by focusing on its various strengths
The full texts of these abilities are "At the beginning of the monarch's end step, that player draws a card" and "Whenever a creature deals combat damage to the monarch, its controller becomes the monarch." If the triggered ability that causes the monarch to draw a card goes on the stack and a different player becomes the monarch before that ability resolves, the first player will still draw the card
For me it just doesn't quite get there in Commander - it's relatively mana intensive, the creatures can be recast, and it only triggers the draw once per turn
Putting an emphasis on high-impact cards is one more way to earn virtual card advantage
With a rich history of its "Universes Beyond" collaborations, Magic: The Gathering has already teased multiple franchises set to join the card game
